For many years HFL Sport Science has been supporting veterinary pre-purchase examinations of horses to ensure the condition of the horse is not masked by drugs such as painkillers. Our services cover the entire process from providing blood sample collection kits, through laboratory testing for drugs, to secure long-term storage of samples in case further investigation becomes necessary.

Pre-purchase and bloodstock

Therapeutic use of drugs can mask the symptoms of injury or illness or to alter an animal’s behaviour at the point of purchase. Our tests provide the confidence that examinations are accurate and protect professional reputations.

Secure storage

We store your samples in high security freezers, testing them when you require and maintaining a chain of custody record once the samples arrive at the laboratory. You can purchase special sample collection kits, designed in partnership with the Veterinary Defence Society (VDS), for long-term storage or immediate analysis. These can be purchased from your local veterinary supplier.
